Coa full home legal microsoft new sp2 w window xp
I have recently had to re-install everything on my laptop following a bad virus. This included Windows. However, now when I try and register I get the message that the product key is invalid. I got the product key off of a sticker on the bottom of my laptop. I also tried calling the activation number and entering the details from the wizard window. This does not work as the automated message tells me that I cannot register and may have been the victim of software piracy.
I can then not get hold of a customer service representative as the automated line automatically ends the call. I got Windows with my computer. Does anyone know how I can get hold of Microsoft to speak to someone to get this resolved?
Was this reply helpful? Yes No. Sorry this didn't help. Thanks for your feedback. If you reinstalled from retail CD, the system accepts only retail product keys. A PID is created after a product is successfully installed. PIDs are used by Microsoft Customer Service to help identify the product when customers call in for support.
A product key is a unique combination of numbers and letters that is used during Microsoft software installation to "unlock" or open the product. If you do not enter the product key when you are prompted during the installation, the product may not open until you enter the product key. OEM versions can still receive tech support once you register Dont let other newegg reviews fool you. Cons: Price. Its a great price compared to the retail version. Linux: Priceless. Overall Review: Great for gamers and anyone else who wants to run the most advanced operating system by microsoft. Cons: Still has lots of Microsoft glitches. And I just bought this and installed it, and right off, I have to do 54 updates??
We need a software lemon law like they have with cars. Pros: I bought a second copy of this OEM version and it installed easily out of the paper envelope and worked perfectly. However you can transfer Retail and Upgrade copies to other computers by calling MS. Overall Review: Update your bios before installing. Dont activate your copy until everything is working right. Pros: Universal to most applications, user friendly compared to other PC compatable OS types, and included service pack 2.
SP2 firewall works very well. Cons: This OS needs help, like a replacement. Desktop appearance and interface is wearing thin. Crashes on some systems due to simple spyware or even a failed Internet security update.
After reinstallation so many times it may reject authorization and that requires call to activate sometimes the second, sometimes the fifth, whenever you reset bios and OS at same time, etc unless they set it for you. However, I would rather they get it right than leave us waiting for another major service pack as was with this OS. Without service pack 2, this would get a one as I fondly remember messenger popups trying to sell me "male confidence" pills I likely won't need for at least another thirty years if ever.
