Exceptions under federal law include drivers operating at a distance of less than miles from their home terminal for interstate operations; recording of hours for drivers using automatic on-board recording devices; and operations not requiring a commercial driver's license.

The first table below is log book violations that are traffic infractions and the approximate fine if convicted and the second is a table with traffic misdemeanors. Safety is the number one priority.
