While at a distance, many of Evrae's attacks won't hit you and you can fire off up to three salvos of Guided Missiles for approximately 2, damage per salvo which he will do automatically while far away unless you issued a command to him but only long-ranged attacks will be able to hit, severely limiting your offense.

While far away, Evrae will use Photon Spray, which is eight hits of weak magical damage to random characters. Evrae can also charge to use Poison Breath its next turn.

Note that if Evrae is under 10, HP and it has Reflect, it will attempt to Haste itself every time it takes damage. Once Hasted, Evrae loses Stone Breath, but gains access to Swooping Scythe while far away, which deals weak physical damage to the party and causes it to be close to you.

The simplest way to deal with Evrae is to put some distance between you and Evrae and let Cid's Guided Missiles do most of the work early on. You can set statuses on Evrae in the meantime remember not to Slow it unless you have a character who knows Reflect and can set Reflect before Evrae's next turn.

Wakka and Lulu can attack during this time, but going too fast could cause Evrae to use Swooping Scythe before all the salvos are used.
