Fraction conversion games

Below is an example using this method. This process can be used for any number of fractions. Just multiply the numerators and denominators of each fraction in the problem by the product of the denominators of all the other fractions not including its own respective denominator in the problem. An alternative method for finding a common denominator is to determine the least common multiple LCM for the denominators, then add or subtract the numerators as one would an integer.

Using the least common multiple can be more efficient and is more likely to result in a fraction in simplified form. In the example above, the denominators were 4, 6, and 2. The least common multiple is the first shared multiple of these three numbers. The first multiple they all share is 12, so this is the least common multiple.

To complete an addition or subtraction problem, multiply the numerators and denominators of each fraction in the problem by whatever value will make the denominators 12, then add the numerators. Fraction subtraction is essentially the same as fraction addition.

A common denominator is required for the operation to occur. Refer to the addition section as well as the equations below for clarification. Multiplying fractions is fairly straightforward. Unlike adding and subtracting, it is not necessary to compute a common denominator in order to multiply fractions. Simply, the numerators and denominators of each fraction are multiplied, and the result forms a new numerator and denominator. If possible, the solution should be simplified. Refer to the equations below for clarification.

The process for dividing fractions is similar to that for multiplying fractions. Then click on another one. If the two cards match, they will stay face-up. If the two cards do not match, they will return to being face-down. Once you've mastered Level 1, there are four more levels to try, getting progressively more difficult:.

To download a printable version of this game, use the links below. There are three sets - set A is the easiest and set C is the most difficult.

Otherwise, you can just print the first page. What strategies did you use to work out that two cards matched? Decimal to fraction Choose correct.

Level 1 to 6 Multiple choice - On each level you will get up to ten questions with or without images, video and audio tracks. For each question you will get two or three possible answers. Only one of these is correct. It's up to you to find the right answer. If you guess incorrectly, you may try again, but you will not get any knowledge points for that round. Level 7 to 12 Questions with text answers - On each level you will get up to ten questions with or without images, videos and audio files.

You must type the correct answer by yourself. If you make a mistake, you get to try again until you find the searched word or phrase. Once you figure out the correct answer, you will get knowledge points. If you're having trouble figuring out the correct answer, you can click on the button labelled 'Give Up'.

It will reveal the correct answer, but you will not get any knowledge points for that round. The game creator may have allowed you to get feedback on your typing. If so, the textbox, where you type your answer, will turn red or green as you type. The game creator has also decided if the answer is case sensitive, ie if it is important that you type in correct case. Both of these settings may vary between the levels, which you'll be noticed of when you play a level.

You may misspell a maximum of three times per question.
